Frogged It

Last night after much contemplation of the triada, I decided to frog it. I had a feeling it would end up being too small. Michelle's was tight on her and I have a bigger frame than her. I thought about ripping it out and adding more stitches, but I wasn't sure if I would have the length I needed and really I never plan on wearing it as a cowl or a scarf, the main point was to wear it as a shoulder cover, mini-poncho or something. And the yarn really wasn't the soft, so since I wasn't feeling the love, screw it. I ripped it out and I will probably make some sort of scarf at another time.

A Little Triada going on

Hey all,

I haven't posted much here, because I didn't even start the Triada until a little over a week ago. I haven't gotten that far on it, but I'm a bit concerned about the provisional cast-on. I took out the waste yarn and while the stitches didn't fall apart, I was concerned about it. So I looped the yarn through all the bottom stitches and just have some waste yarn hanging out on the bottom. I'm just wondering for those of you that have finished it, when you take it out, the bottom edge stitches should be fine?

Here's what it looks like thus far:

Thanks for any... (more)

Triada Complete

Finally Done. It took four attempts until I was happy with the way it looked. Most of those attempts were over quickly as the trouble I ran into the most was the provisional cast on.

I love how it turned out. Now I just need to get a tank top that I like for underneath. The green is very vibrant and I enjoy the flash of color it give to the overall work. The only complaint I have is that it is a bit tight. Did anyone else run into that problem?

My finished Triada and my reluctant model! Aren't they cute. I used Red Heart Baby Terri in Medium Blue. It is so soft. Not the best picture of my triada but it was so cute I had to use this one.

Finished size

For the ladies who already finished this, what's your finished size?

I got exactly the dimensions of the pattern, 12" long and 34" circumference when stretched widthwise, but no way that can fit a woman!

But it fits my 8 years old very well:

My shoulder plus arms circumference is 43" - I admit I have wide shoulders, and my sister-in-law, for whom I am making this, is smaller than me, but not as small as my daughter. BTW, I measured my daughters' circumference, and it is 30".

I am going to frog this and start over with more stitches since I used only two of the four balls of... (more)

Done! It took forever to start this, but once I started (yesterday afternoon), I quickly finished it (around midnight last night in a Gilmore Girls-athon). Overall, I'd say that I'm pretty pleased with this. Once I got started, it wasn't nearly as hard as I expected it to be, and it was easy to keep track of rnd 1 or rnd 2 of the fisherman's rib pattern in the round simply by watching the stitches for signs. So, generally a mindless knit. I was fascinated at how this made up, as I wouldn't have ever dreamed of doing a scarf like this myself in this stitch pattern, but the... (more)

Finally got started on this again last night. I've made it a good number of rounds without screwing up (I think anyhow).

Hopefully pictures will be coming soon, it's looking pretty cool.

I did cheat a bit though. I did a 60ish long chain for the provisional cast on and skipped a few stitches here and there to make the cast on stretchy enough to go around the 24" needle. Hopefully, this will help someone else. :)

Finished my Triada yesterday - Here's the 'before' stretching pic:

Here's 'after':

and here's 'as worn' - the subject doing the wearing looked pretty yukky, so I cut myself...err..I mean HER out!:

Fun to knit - think I might try a different yarn someday.
